Priya Rohella/Author/Poet
I wasn’t sure how to go about publishing a book, I just knew I wanted to do it.
From a young age I had a knack for writing- something my family seemed to
notice as the years went on. When I got to secondary school I continued to
write- I created poems, songs, short stories and then, by chance or by fate,
got some of my writings published in collaborations.
After viewing one of my mini sagas in the YoungWriters ‘Twist in the Tale’ anthology,
I became somewhat hungrier for the written word. Scribbling away ideas and
sketching my first proper character designs, I eventually conjured up a plot I
was pleased with: we would follow the journey of a lost and gloomy
school-girl, navigating her way through young life- facing hardships and
finding magic along the way. Pricilla Phantom and the Monochrome Book was what
I called this novella. Pricilla Phantom- the girl who we felt pity on, and in
the end, the girl who we were marvellously proud of. Just as Pricilla’s life
changed for the better after she found the enchanted Monochrome Book, in a
similar way my life changed as Austin Macauley made my budding ideas come to
life.
The team at Austin Macauley were extremely helpful and answered all the many
questions I had regarding the development of my manuscript as well as the
marketing process afterwards. The editing of my manuscript was done to a high
standard and the front cover design was absolutely beautiful. I remember the
day I received a box of promotional material, at first I wasn’t sure what such
a large box could possibly contain and when I opened it- I was more then
elated! As well as receiving original copies of my book, I was also given
bookmarks, leaflets, postcards, and professional posters. I couldn’t be happier
with the grand job Austin Macauley had done for me and I’d gladly recommend
them to any new writers out there looking to publish their first works.
Now that Pricilla Phantom and the Monochrome Book is out on the market, I am
happily writing a sequel to this story as well as a separate series called
‘Through the eyes of a servant’. With the brilliant job done on my first book I
am eager and excited to continue publishing with Austin Macauley and see where
my writing journey will take me next.
